Evaluation of final product


                                                            Evaluation of final product

We have watched all of our classes depict videos and have told them some good things they have done and some bad things that they have done in their depict video. Other people have told us as well what they think were good and bad in the depict video I, Vlad and Luis made. Now I am going to tell you what the others have said.

Mise-en -scene

Good points:
  All the actors in this video are believe able as the students didn't laugh and concentrated like they would do when they are in an actual lesson. Vlad acted as the main character really well as he showed his different emotions on his face, like when he was falling asleep, shocked and angry. 
  I think a good prop that was effective was the clock. As the clock and the window was supposed show that Vlad was bored but as the window shot wasn't very good it didn't show what it was supposed to convey. The clock on the other hand showed that time was passing by and that Vlad wanted the lesson to end.
 
 Bad points:
   The teacher was wearing a
white and stripy top at the beginning but at the end he was wearing a black top. Next time we film we have to make sure that we wear the same costume because otherwise you can mistaken the same person but acting as a different character.
   I really liked the setting we used as it was perfect for our video but I think the hallway that we chose was too long and next time we should choose a hallway that was a bit shorter.
 
Camera work

Good points:
 At the beginning of the video a panning shot is used this helps establish the setting. During the first panning shot you see the main character in his natural surroundings, in a classroom. I think this is a good point because the person who filmed it kept the camera steady at a straight angle while they panned it.
 Another bit of camera work I like is the point of view tracking shot used in the hallway. I like this because you felt like you were really him dreaming moving from side to side with a slow pace.

Bad Points:
 One bad camera shot was the close up shot of the window. This was a bad shot as it was supposed then be edited into an eye line match but it did not look right, as it looked as if Vlad was looking at a bush, not outside of a window. As well, because it was zoomed in it looked blurred didn't look a like a quality shot.
 For the hallway scene we used too many shots. I think this made it seem longer as well because it had so many shots and would have seemed quicker and flowed together more with the other shots, if it was just a tracking shot.
 
 
 
Editing
 
Good Points:
 In some parts in our short film for depict there are some shots of Vlad with his eyes glowing. This is a really effective technique which can help connote that he is in a dream. Its also a good point as the person who edited the shots to make him have glowing eyes really concentrated and took their time as the yellow glow was exactly on his eyes.
 Another good point about our editing techniques for our short film 'Deep Within' is the transitioning of all the people in the classroom as Vlad falls asleep. This is good because we then know that we are in Vlads dream.
 
 
 
 Bad Points:
 Near the end things go to quick to give people a chance to understand what's going on. Also some of the bits of film we took have been look like they have been cut in the wrong place. This is probably why it gets a bit confusing near the end.
 One bad point is that one of the shots in the dream sequence where Vlad is meant to be transparent, he isn't transparent in.  This is because we tried to make him transparent in that shot but the software wouldn't let us. 


Sound

Good Points:
 A sound what really worked well in our video is when the teacher was talking and then kept on repeating what he was saying as Vlad was falling asleep. I think this worked well because the teacher repeats himself which makes the audience confused and probably think there is a glitch in the video. This then makes them want to watch more.
  Another piece of sound that is effective is the sound bridge at the beginning as when the title of the video is shown you can hear the teacher talking, who is then shown in the next clip.
 
Bad Points:
 I think a bad point about sound that we have used is the heartbeat as it gets really loud at one point then quiet the next. The heartbeat seems like, it just starts off at a random time as sometimes its hard to hear it at the beginning because of how quiet it is, then all of a sudden it stops.
 I think the scream near the end is good but when I watch the video we created I wonder where the scream actually came from because to me it looks like its from the devil but I don't think a devil would use a high pitch sound like that.
